Nursery in Forres Click Here for information on the Nursery August 2020 re-opening.
We are a private nursery with a partnership with The Moray Council, providing funded places for children ages 2-5 years. (Where applicable)
We are registered with the Care Inspectorate and the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) We have a large, secure play area to the front of the building where we encourage cooperative and physical play using natural materials. Such as tree stumps etc. We also grow vegetables and fruit and we encourage bees and insects by sowing wild flower seeds. We also have a hard core playground to the rear for children to use their gross motor skills, using tricycles and cars.
What We Do We are ideally situated for our local schools. We have an arrangement with our catchment school, Andersons Primary, where we visit with the children once a fortnight. We are able to use the gym in the main hall. All children are welcome whether or not they will eventually go there. These visits give the children an insight into what 'big school' is about We have dancing lessons, courtesy of our dancing instructor Emma. We also visit the library and we take advantage of our location by regularly taking the children on woodland walks, to feed the ducks and shopping trips.
Our Aims Our aims at Hop Skip and Jump are to offer a flexible service to support the changing needs of our children and in doing so also support their Parents/ Carers.
Parent and Carers are invited to 'Play and Stay' and are welcome to visit us as frequently as they feel comfortable with. We encourage them to share their skills with us e.g. baking, story- telling gardening etc. As a nursery we work towards a provision which encourages every child to be an inpidual, in a safe environment, to promote health and well- being and for them to be achieving, nurtured, respected, responsible and involved.
We provide a broad range of appropriate Pre- School experiences in line with the 3-5 curriculum Framework and the Curriculum of Excellence.
We provide a high level of childcare using the National Care standards 0-16. The Child at the Centre 2 and the Curriculum for Excellence. We use these as guidelines for implementing new policies, procedures and to further improve the standard of care provided through monitoring and self- evaluation. We also respect and encourage the involvement of parents in the Care and Education of their child.
